Lewisham Council have been consulting with the local community and developing a regeneration strategy for Loampit Vale as part of their exciting plans to revitalise the heart of the Borough.
In April / May 2007 Lewisham Council consulted on which site the new leisure centre should be located. In July 2007 the Mayor and Cabinet decided that Loampit Vale should be the site of new leisure facilities as part of plans to transform the town centre.
The Council developed a brief for the Loampit Vale site and invited Barratt Homes to work in partnership on the scheme. A planning application is currently being developed and consultation taking place with key public agencies such as The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) and the GLA.
Consultation is being undertaken with local residents and groups. Public exhibitions will be held in May (15/16/17th) to give everyone the opportunity to comment on the scheme before the application is submitted.
The planning application will be considered by the Planning Department of the Council and should the scheme get the go-ahead, construction work will begin in Winter 2008 so that Lewisham will have its new leisure centre during 2010.

Office space will be allocated for arts and cultural industries at Loampit Vale
